After our incredible adventures on Kauai, my family flew to the island of Oahu. We spent the first few days of the week at the Aulani, Disney's new Hawaiian resort, relaxing on the beach, snorkeling in the lagoon, eating ridiculous amounts of delicious food (oh, that breakfast bread pudding), and floating in the lazy river after the sun had set. My family loved the Aulani--it was full of Disney quality and charm, but we didn't feel overwhelmed by characters or cheesy/kiddy attractions. It was just beyond magical, in that way that only Disney can do.
It was hard to pull ourselves out of the water, but we managed to get ourselves over to Pearl Harbor. I love history and historical sites, but I extra loved Pearl Harbor. The whole place is touristy, crowded, and hot, but so patriotic and meaningful. Start your day early in the morning, get your U.S.S Arizona Memorial tickets in advance, and bring lots of snacks and sunscreen.
Basically I'm telling you that if you ever find yourself in Oahu, stay at the Aulani and get your butt to Pearl Harbor. But if all you're after is some good eats, Roy's had the best chocolate soufflee in the whole wide world, so that will make you happy too.
More from Oahu tomorrow, folks.
